A 9 year old motivated by her older siblings
Sibling rivalry is a motivator for many of us. Tiffany Herbert (age 9) the youngest of 4 siblings was determined not to be outdone by her older sisters who were advanced swimmers that left her on the shore most times. Her oldest sister Tenisha had already experienced the wonders of a PADI Discover Scuba programme while her older sister Tiya has been snorkeling and achieved advanced swimmer certifications with Sea Turtle Aquatics.
Tiffany started her journey in swimming along with her sisters, but they eventually moved on and left her to explore other interests. However, this seemed to have motivated her to push further and faster. As a beginner swimmer under the instruction of Mr. Kimon Lewis, Tiffany progressed through two summers of Basic Water Safety and Swimming lessons to move into the Intermediate group of swimmers and is now eyeing the Advanced Level.
Later this year, Tiffany hopes to join the Snappers Snorkeling Club and be able to improve her skills that will eventually lead her to get certified as a Scuba Diver. A fearless 9 year old who believes that she is only limited by her opportunities and not her age, or height.
Her mom Dawn said that, “Tiffany, has a strong interest in anything marine related and we will allow her to develop that interest as long as it exists. She has grown more confident in her skills in the sea. Sea Turtle Aquatics does an amazing job with our youth.”
